Goal Setter

Happy new week, all! I hope everyone had a tremendous Mother's Day! Today, I thought I'd write a bit about goal setting. Goals are important in all aspects of our lives, so weight loss is no different!

Before you set your goals, think long and hard about what you really want. A lot of times, motivation and goals are wrapped up in the same package. This can be a mistake so don't get caught up in that trap.

Naturally, setting goals help to give you an idea of what you want to achieve. When I first started on my journey I made a contract with myself to set my goals into writing and placed it somewhere I could see it everyday. The key to this is to set attainable goals. Say you want to lose 40 pounds and you set that as your goal it would be a good idea to set sub goals as that number 40 looks quite daunting.

Here's a list of some tips I found poking around the net this morning.

♥ Write down your goals. The more places the better!
♥ Tell friends and family about your goals so they can help you succeed.
♥ Strive for a set loss per week, but nothing that is out of this world. Start with 1 pound per week.
♥ Set attainable goals for exercise so you train your brain for success!
♥ Don't set a bunch of goals too soon. Start small and work your way to bigger goals.
♥ Mix it up! Make goals fitness oriented one week, scale oriented the next, journaling the next and then maybe creating two new healthy recipes the next. Whatever works for you; just give yourself some variety!
♥ Celebrate your victories!
♥ Set positive goals and always keep an "I CAN" attitude!

What are some goals you are working towards?

Enjoy your goal setting! I am going to set some right now!
